Description:
East-Indiaman ‘Nieuw-Hoorn’ perishes in a fire at sea. A part of her crew manage to save themselves in a lifeboat. When hunger and thirst almost force them to give up, they sight land. While gathering supplies, they are taken by surprise by a band of hostile natives. The cabin boys Hajo, Rolf en Padde and galley boy Harmen get seperated from the rest and are left behind on Sumatra. They try to make their way through the wilderness by foot looking for European settlers who may help them get home.

I grew up with this book and it is the most amazing story of adventure for any child who does not like reading. I have read it 10+ times as a child myself (the Dutch version) and is well worth it.
